Flagger Force is pleased to announce that Shea Zwerver, workforce development and public affairs manager, has been selected to speak at the University of Georgia’s Vinson Institute Workforce Conference to be held in Athens, Georgia, November 12 to 13, 2024. The two-day event will bring together businesses, educators, economic development leaders, nonprofits, and workforce development agencies to explore best practices and innovative ideas that can help solve hiring challenges across the state.

“I am excited to speak alongside other talented professionals, share my industry insights and real-world experiences, and learn about emerging employment strategies and programs that support individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. When employers, workforce development agencies, and advocacy groups collaborate, we can inspire and create meaningful change and address workforce needs in Georgia and across our nation,” shared Shea Zwerver, workforce development and public affairs manager.

During the University of Georgia’s Vinson Institute Workforce Conference, Shea will speak on a panel led by the Georgia Justice Project, an organization dedicated to breaking down barriers to opportunity for Georgians impacted by the criminal legal system. Individuals on the panel will talk about successful fair-chance hiring, including practical steps and best practices for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining individuals with a record. Through the panel discussion, attendees will gain knowledge on how to maximize their talent pools and build candidate pipelines.

As Flagger Force’s workforce development and public affairs manager, Shea is responsible for building strategic partnerships that help grow and diversify Flagger Force’s frontline workforce and overseeing government relations across the company’s expanding footprint. She plays an instrumental role in supporting the company’s fair-chance hiring efforts, which focus on considering candidates of all experience levels and backgrounds who want to work, including individuals reentering the workforce after incarceration. Shea also advocates for criminal reform to help remove barriers to employment for people with criminal records. In 2023, Shea was appointed to the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board by Governor Josh Shapiro and Chairs the Barrier Remediation Committee.

“At Flagger Force, Shea plays an active role in developing effective fair-chance hiring processes and procedures. Her insights and efforts have helped to position Flagger Force as a leading fair-chance employer. From collaborating with our partners at the Responsible Business Initiative for Justice (RBIJ) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on projects and speaking engagements to advocating for legal system reform that will benefit candidates with a criminal background, Shea’s efforts have a ripple effect far beyond our company. I am confident her remarks at Georgia’s Workforce Conference will inspire many other employers,” said Mike Doner, president and CEO of Flagger Force.
