Automated Flagger Assistance Devices

Automated flagger assistance devices (AFADs) are pieces of equipment that use technology to help control traffic in active work zones. As the adoption of the technology becomes more widespread across the United States, many are questioning if integrating AFADs into work zones is creating positive or negative impacts.

In a recent TV interview with abc27 News, Mike Doner, president and CEO of Flagger Force, discussed the company’s use of AFADs and how the technology can improve work zone safety. Mike shared, “At Flagger Force, we use AFADs in places where it is not safe to put a human. For instance, a guardrail where there is a steep decline and no ‘escape route.’” Click here to watch the full interview and learn more about AFADs.
