What is the starting pay rate?

Our starting pay for crew members is $16/hour, but that’s just the beginning. Many team members earn promotions within their first 45–60 days, which can lead to higher pay and a company vehicle. We’re all about career growth!
If you have experience in the traffic control industry, you may qualify for:
- An additional $1 per hour
- A company vehicle (after 30 days of employment and completion of necessary training programs)
- A faster path to advancement

What if I have previous traffic control experience?

Flagger Force is glad to have you on our team! Individuals with previous traffic control experience may be hired as Experienced Crew Members. If you qualify, this program provides:
- Pay starting at the Crew Leader rate of $17.00
- An accelerated training timeline for rapid promotion to the Crew Leader role (complete required training in approximately 30 days)
- Upon promotion to Crew Leader, issued a company vehicle

What are your hiring requirements?

To join our team as a crew member, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and a smartphone that can download work-related apps
- Be able to stand for up to 12 hours, walk 1 to 2 miles a day, and lift 25 to 35 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.)
- Be ready to work in all types of weather
- Bring a positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong focus on safety

Do I need a valid driver’s license?

Yes, we ask crew members to have a valid driver’s license because you are responsible for getting to each assigned work site. These locations change daily and are often not accessible by public transportation.
Once promoted to crew leader, you’ll be assigned a company vehicle for travel to and from your job assignments.

What training do you provide?

With a strong in-house training program, we set you up for success from day one. As a new crew member, you’ll complete essential courses like:
- Flagger certification
- Basic and advanced work zone training
- Lane closure and advanced lane setup
- And more, depending on your path
As you grow with us, you’ll have access to multi-level leadership development courses designed to help you advance your career and take on more responsibility.
We also support your learning on the go. Every week, you’ll receive mobile-friendly lessons through our internal communications app to keep building your skills wherever you are.

Do I need to go through your training program if I have experience or a flagger certification?

Yes. All new hires must complete our paid training program, even if you have previous experience or hold a current flagger certification. This ensures that every team member is aligned with our safety standards, procedures, and expectations before heading out to the field.
Training includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and hands-on learning, so you’re fully prepared and confident on the job. We appreciate your experience and want to ensure you’re set up for success from day one.

What if I have no traffic control experience?

No problem. You do not need any prior experience to get started at Flagger Force. We provide all the training and certifications you need to perform the job safely and confidently.
Many of our top team members began their careers with us without any industry background. If you are reliable, safety-focused, and willing to learn, we will give you the tools to succeed.

Where are your facilities located?

These regional facilities are used for in-person training and equipment storage. You will report to the facility closest to you for crew member training and new hire orientation.
Once hired, your daily job assignments are sent to your smartphone through our internal scheduling app. You will travel directly to each job site, which changes frequently based on client needs. Our team works hard to schedule assignments as close to your home area as possible.

What is provided to me after hiring?

Once hired, Flagger Force provides all the standard-issue gear and training you need to start safely and confidently. This includes:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, Class E pants, Class 3 vest, hard hat, and safety glasses
- Training and certifications required for your state
You will need to supply your own:
- Steel-toed or composite-toed boots that cover the ankle
- Two-way radios (a reimbursement option is available)

Most benefits become available after six months of averaging 30 or more hours per week.

Is weekend work available?

Yes. Many clients operate Monday through Saturday, and weekend work is often available.
Working on Saturdays or Sundays can be a great way to earn overtime or make up for missed hours during the week. We survey our team each Monday to find out who is available for weekend assignments.
If you want to pick up extra hours, weekends are a great opportunity.
