What is the starting pay rate?

In most areas, starting rates currently range from $16.50 to $17.50 per hour, with higher base rates available for experienced crew members and certain regions.
In some areas, we’ve introduced higher base pay rates:
- Central Pennsylvania (Cumberland, Lancaster, York, and Dauphin counties): $17.75/hour for Crew Members and $18.75/hour for Experienced Crew Members
- Select Ohio and Indiana counties: $17.50/hour for Crew Members and $18.50/hour for Experienced Crew Members
- Washington D.C.: $17.95/hour for Crew Members and $18.45/hour for Experienced Crew Members
Many team members earn promotions within their first 45 to 60 days, which can lead to higher pay and access to a company vehicle.
If you have experience in the traffic control industry, you may qualify for:
- An additional $1 per hour
- A company vehicle (after 30 days of employment and completion of required training)
- A faster path to advancement

We’re hiring for our Crew Member position, which is the first step in an exciting career with Flagger Force. This entry-level role includes hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to move quickly. Many team members earn promotions within their first 45 to 60 days.
Crew Members who advance to Crew Leader take on more responsibility in the field and can earn up to $500 in promotion bonuses. What if I have previous traffic control experience?

We value the experience you bring to the team. Individuals with verified traffic control experience who can provide proof of flagger certification (current or expired) may be hired as Experienced Crew Members.
Experienced Crew Members receive:
- Higher starting pay:
- $18.50/hour in select regions, including Central Pennsylvania (Cumberland, Lancaster, York, and Dauphin counties) and parts of Ohio and Indiana
- An accelerated training timeline that helps you qualify for promotion to Crew Leader in about 30 days
- Eligibility for promotion bonuses totaling up to $500 through our Promotions Program
- A company vehicle upon promotion to Crew Leader

What are your hiring requirements?

To join our team as a crew member, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and a smartphone that can download work-related apps
- Be able to stand for up to 12 hours, walk 1 to 2 miles a day, and lift 25 to 35 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.)
- Be ready to work in all types of weather
- Bring a positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong focus on safety

Do I need a valid driver’s license?

Yes, we ask crew members to have a valid driver’s license because you are responsible for getting to each assigned work site. These locations change daily and are often not accessible by public transportation.
Once promoted to crew leader, you’ll be assigned a company vehicle for travel to and from your job assignments.
Don’t have a driver’s license or a reliable vehicle? We may be able to provide transportation assistance. Simply apply and a member of our team will connect with you!

What training do you provide?

Member, you’ll complete essential courses such as:
- Flagger certification
- Basic and advanced work zone training
- Lane closure and advanced lane setup
- Additional courses based on your career path
As you grow with us, you’ll gain access to multi-level leadership development programs that prepare you for advancement to Crew Leader and beyond. Crew Members who complete these milestones can earn up to $500 in promotion bonuses through our Promotions Program.
We also support your learning on the go. Each week, you’ll receive mobile-friendly lessons through our internal communications app, helping you continue building your skills wherever your work takes you.

Do I need to go through your training program if I have experience or a flagger certification?

Yes. All new hires must complete our paid training program, even if you have previous experience or hold a current flagger certification. This ensures that every team member is aligned with our safety standards, procedures, and expectations before heading out to the field.
Training includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and hands-on learning, so you’re fully prepared and confident on the job. We appreciate your experience and want to ensure you’re set up for success from day one.

What if I have no traffic control experience?

No problem. You do not need any prior experience to get started at Flagger Force. We provide all the training and certifications you need to perform the job safely and confidently.
Many of our top team members began their careers with us without any industry background. If you are reliable, safety-focused, and willing to learn, we will give you the tools to succeed.

Where are your facilities located?
-
To view full addresses, please visit our locations page.
These regional facilities are used for in-person training and equipment storage. You will report to the facility closest to you for crew member training and new hire orientation.
Once hired, your daily job assignments are sent to your smartphone through our internal scheduling app. You will travel directly to each job site, which changes frequently based on client needs. Our team works hard to schedule assignments as close to your home area as possible.

How long do you keep applications on file?

What is provided to me after hiring?

Once hired, Flagger Force provides all the standard-issue gear and training you need to start safely and confidently. This includes:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, Class E pants, Class 3 vest, hard hat, and safety glasses
- Training and certifications required for your state
You will need to supply your own:
- Steel-toed or composite-toed laced boots that cover the ankle
- It is recommended that the boots meet ANSI Z41 or ASTM F 2413-05 requirements
- Two-way radios (a reimbursement option is available)
- It is not recommended that our team members use any radio that has .5 channels
Most benefits are available to you after 6 months of averaging 30 or more hours per week of employment.

Is weekend work available?

Yes. Many clients operate Monday through Saturday, and weekend work is often available.
Working on Saturdays or Sundays can be a great way to earn overtime or make up for missed hours during the week. We survey our team each Monday to find out who is available for weekend assignments.
If you want to pick up extra hours, weekends are a great opportunity.

What should I expect at New Hire Orientation (NHO) and Crew Member Training (CMT)?

New Hire Orientation (NHO) and Crew Member Training (CMT) are designed to prepare you for success in the field. These sessions include:
- Drug screening
- Background screening
- ID validation (bring a valid government-issued photo ID)
- Classroom instruction, including a required test
- Hands-on training in simulated work zone conditions
- Company policy overview
- Introduction to our technology and communication platforms
To ensure you’re ready, please review the gear requirements in advance:
- Steel-toed or composite-toed laced boots that cover the ankle
