Who is Flagger Force?

Flagger Force Traffic Control Services® is recognized as an industry leader in temporary traffic control. In 2002, the company was founded by entrepreneurs with a handful of employees; one pickup truck; and the signs, stands, and cones needed to control traffic in a work zone. Today, Flagger Force establishes safe work zones with a fleet of approximately 1,000 trucks and 1,700 full-time employees. Their quality and safety standards have been embraced by industry stakeholders and has allowed them to continuously expand their geographic reach. Flagger Force is headquartered in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania and has the resources and expertise to help support our nation’s infrastructure, utilities, and other service industries—providing career opportunities throughout their footprint.

When was Flagger Force established?

Flagger Force was founded in 2002 with the first flagging operation beginning in 2003. One year later, Flagger Force began servicing clients using work zone protection crews, which included their first pick-up trucks supplied with the cones, stands, and signs necessary for safe work zone setups.

How many employees does Flagger Force currently employ?

Flagger Force provides careers to more than 1,700 full-time employees. Flagger Force manages approximately 500 active work zones on a daily basis.

What is temporary traffic control?

According to the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration, temporary traffic control is a vital role in providing continuous safe and efficient traffic flow around a work area. “It includes the entire section of roadway between the first advance warning sign through the last traffic control device.” These are daily operations which last 12 hours or less.

What is a work zone?

Work Zones, not to be confused with Work Areas, has four components to a temporary traffic control work zone: the advanced warning area, the transition area, the activity area, and the termination area.

What type of training does Flagger Force provide their employees?
-
Flagger Force’s average field employee receives 40 hours of training per year through their internal program, the Flagger Force Academy. Flagger Force’s more tenured and experienced field employees will receive an upwards of 72 hours per year also through this program. This training far exceeds the required minimum for a certified flagger which is a four-hour Flagger Certification class. Each of Flagger Force’s training instructors is ATSSA and/or DOT-certified and committed to instilling the importance of safety and teamwork in their trainees.

How does someone know when they need temporary traffic control?

Prior to calling Flagger Force, a utility company, contractor or construction company does not have to know what kind of traffic control is required. Flagger Force will gather information regarding their scope of work and determine what resources and set-up will be required to perform the job safely and efficiently. For more complex set-ups and operations, Flagger Force may suggest additional planning; this can include scheduling a pre-construction meeting. Pre-construction meetings are a value-add to our clients– free of charge. A Flagger Force Field Specialist would then meet the client on-site to review the project requirements to jump-start the project.
